Fit For A Prince; Now Available To You
The Royal Suites were once the private chambers of the Prince of Württemberg. Exquisite crystal chandeliers sparkle from seven-meter-high stucco-decorated ceilings and cast the rooms in sparkling aristocratic flair. Crowned heads and state guests, artists and international stars spanning three centuries have entered this world of polished elegance and utmost luxury.
With marble bathrooms and walls upholstered in silk, the Royal Suites are situated in the manner of Schönbrunn palace on over 1,722 square feet. With three bedrooms each, the impressive suites occupy the entire front of The Imperial’s bel étage. The masterfully crafted star-patterned parquet floors seem to creak with respect and history.
Suite Talk Q&A
- What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests? Alfred Hitchcock joked to the press that he kept losing his wife because of my grand interior but managed to find her behind a pillar. That was indeed humorous feedback.
- Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? Originally, I was the princely chamber and private apartment of Prince Phillip of Württemberg, who lived in the Palais with his wife, Archduchess Maria Theresia of Habsburg. Emperor Franz Joseph I was the Archduchess’ great uncle, and he gave them the Palais as their wedding gift. The Palais - and I especially - look like the reflection of Schönbrunn Palace; this makes me the replica for Austrian aristocratic flair which I breathe and live daily.
- Who was your all-time favorite guest? I felt most honored by the fact that Michael Jackson himself found inspiration in my interior. He sat at one of the desks in my salon and wrote his famous “Earth Song”. Now every time one of my valued guests decides to play this song during their stay, I am proud to have been part of such great art.
