An American Girl in Italy – by award winning American photographer Ruth Orkin – is the second most published photo of all time. It was taken right outside Hotel Savoy in the Repubblica Square, in the heart of Florence. The iconic photo captures Ninalee Craig, a young American woman who was traveling around Italy on her own in 1951.
