Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is the typical day in the life of a suite? My day starts with the Sicilian light in a perfect mix of shadow and brightness till the evening with an amazing sunset after a stunning midday sun. On top of that, I’m also very lucky to have a fantastic team who takes care of me and makes me pretty and fresh for the day. They clean every corner, including my three outdoor terraces, the private pool and the Jacuzzi. They also restock the
In-Room Bar and the special Ortigia bathroom amenities, making sure everything is just flawless! I love the flower arrangements they adorn me with and it’s always exciting to welcome my new guests with a bottle of Champagne and a relaxing in-room Sicilia Aroma Massage.

  2. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? Acacia is a charming flowering tree, typically from Sicily and Verdura. This area is named after the grand Verdura family who once owned the land you find here today. The last Duke of Verdura—famous for his beautiful jewelry design—was cousin to writer Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. Therefore, all rooms at Verdura, including myself, hold a copy of his masterpiece, The Leopard, for guests to enjoy. My style? It’s inspired by my surroundings and is rooted in Sicilian culture, with a pared-down, contemporary edge. Intense Sicilian colors, strong forms and local mosaics and artifacts.

  3. What sets you apart from other suites in this city? Space and privacy are my hallmarks, which make me the perfect Sicilian hideaway for relaxation and rejuvenation. Not only I am immersed in a spectacular setting—the lovely crystal azure Mediterranean Sea, the 230 hectares of landscape with over a mile of private coastline, and the fragrant, sun-kissed olive groves and gardens—but my team also works hard to preserve the natural properties and the local community. From the environmentally sensitive architecture and features, including solar energy and water recycling, to the resort’s own organic vegetable garden; from the sponsorship of local artisans to the contribution to local charity initiatives.
