The Pierre, A Taj Hotel
New York, New York
Architects Schultze and Weaver drew inspiration for The Pierre from the design of a French château, creating a Georgian brick-and-granite structure with a limestone-fronted Louis XVI base. One of the most recognizable landmarks of the New York skyline, The Pierre's topmost floors are modeled after Mansart's Royal Chapel at Versailles.
The Pierre was Audrey Hepburn's home away from home while she was filming Breakfast At Tiffany's. In addition, on May 3, 1954, the hotel hosted the presentation in which she received her Best Actress Oscar for Roman Holiday from fellow Oscar-winning actor William Holden after it was inscribed.
