Princess Lilian Suite - Grand Hôtel Stockholm
What is a typical day in the life of a suite? I’m given the Royal treatment, primped, preened and pampered from top to toe by four members of the glam squad at housekeeping, who leave me sparkling clean. My two sumptuous king-sized Dux beds are made up with bespoke Egyptian cotton of the highest quality. My spa section is restocked with full-sized Aqua de Parma products. The refrigerator is replenished with refreshments and the wine cabinet is refilled with exclusive bottles of wine from the Grand Hôtel’s extensive wine cellar. Housekeeping also makes sure the bar trolley is up to spec so that my guests can mix their favorite cocktails. Then it’s time for the in-house florist to pay me a visit - creating two stunning flower arrangements and making sure all my greenery is looking its best. Then, before the next guests check in, two senior supervisors from housekeeping come and inspect me to make sure that I am left in flawless condition. They also ensure that any special requirements have been arranged. Naturally, my guests are always greeted and shown around by the Manager on Duty.
What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? Being Swedish, bragging about indulgence is against my nature. But the truth is that my team can arrange anything your heart desires – from around the clock butler service to planning a surprise dinner for your better half in collaboration with award-winning chef Mathias Dahlgren...
What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests? I was re-inaugurated in April last year after an extensive revamp and my guests just love my new look in an exquisite Scandinavian palette. Others appreciate all the latest technology details, such as my Sonos sound system and my en-suite cinema that accommodates 12 people, designed by the Nordic region’s foremost acoustician, Ingemar Olsson. But the real wow factor for many guests is the dazzling panorama view over the waterfront and the Royal Palace.
Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? I’m named after the late Princess Lilian, a most beloved member of Swedish Royalty. With her natural elegance, good-hearted personality and captivating charm, she has a special place in the hearts of the Swedish people. A large portrait of Princess Lilian hangs over the grand piano in her honor.
What sets you apart from other suites in this city? I am a breathtaking 330 square meter Stockholm pied-à-terre that blurs the lines between hotel accommodation and residential apartment. With two bedrooms, a sitting room, a library, a kitchen, a spa area and an en-suite cinema, I reflect the style of home that guests would choose to reside in themselves. My living room is planned down to the last detail with a lavish sofa group and dinner table for twelve. And just as my bar trolley is being rolled out for cocktail hour, someone may play a tune on the grand piano. My guests often bring their personal chef with them, or hire one for the evening. They’ve even been known to cook romantic dinners themselves in my well-equipped kitchen. My relaxation zone promises soothing tranquility with its deep mosaic soaking tub, massage showers and waterfall, complete with a steam or dry sauna, whatever takes your fancy.
What is your suite motto? Not that I have a motto – but if I did it would bear testimony to Princess Lilian - “Keep on smiling!”
Who was your all-time favorite guest? I don’t kiss and tell.
