Producer Suite - The Chatwal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York

New York, New York

Broadway's Brightest Star

Master designer Thierry Despont demonstrates that the joy is in the details in this penthouse suite with terrace and roof deck on the 10th floor. Bespoke lighting and fittings set the stage for chic cinnamon and spice-hued leather furnishings. The king bed with handmade Shifman mattress is dressed in fine Frette linens and down comforter edged in coffee-colored accents. The sleek, modern bathroom has sparkling granite countertops and heated floor, double sinks, an integrated 19-inch mirrored television and jacuzzi. Luxuriously appointed and designed with entertaining in mind, the living room with fireplace and adjacent dining area with outdoor balcony access and a pantry provide dramatic interiors enhanced by a spiral staircase to a large roof deck with attractive views over West 44th Street and Manhattan’s skyline.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? My style was inspired by one of the most famous American architects, Stanford White and my location in the Heart of Manhattan also inspired my style. Built in Empire Art Deco style in 1905, The Chatwal is a monument by itself, as a landmark and historically preserved rare masterpiece of Stanford White.  I myself, am a tribute to the quintessential New York art form – ‘Theater on Broadway’. It has taken vision and perseverance of many a great Producers to create some of the most amazing Broadways shows. I am most aptly designed so and positioned such. I am a celebration of beauty, art, culture and refinement.

  2. What would be your advice for a first time guest visiting? It is ideal to experience me in the spring and summer for outdoor dining. I also host outdoor movie screenings. Allow our butlers to spoil you with any whim and fancy. In autumn and winter, indulge in an aperitif on the roof under heat lamps with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline while wrapped in custom Alpaca blankets. Or, simply order in-room dining from the hotel’s famous restaurant, Lambs Club, and relax by my fireplace in the plush living room.

  3. How would you like to be remembered? I want to be remembered as the ultimate, timeless blend of classic and contemporary design in a historic landmark building with the most passionate details and service. I have the most amazing views and convenient location to truly experience New York at its best.
