Hotel Couture

2014 marked the beginning of a new era for Hôtel Plaza Athénée Paris with a renovation that not only embraces the past 100 years but looks into the future: combining a classic style with a contemporary flavor. The project was carried out with the help of the following designers and artists; the architect Jean-Jacques Ory, who was responsible for extending the premises; the interior designer Bruno Moinard for the decoration of the communal areas; designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku for the Alain Ducasse at Hôtel Plaza Athénée restaurant and Le Bar; and finally Marie-José Pommereau for the restoration of the guestrooms and suites.

The Eiffel Suite is decorated in beige with pink tones. Pommereau chose a range of warm tones for the walls including peony, yellow, and silver as well as using materials such as damask, embroideries and plain silks from top couture houses to adorn the windows, armchairs, and beds. The “wow factor”: as if looking at a painting, the Eiffel Suite overlooks the Eiffel Tower through a silver-framed window.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? At the end of the stay, before the departure of our guests, the staff perfumes the luggage with amber, so that upon arriving home, the scent of the Hôtel is always present and they remember the good times spent at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée.

In terms of entertainment, the hotel offers a different kind of experiences to our guests. During Christmas time, we build an ice-rink. The Hôtel Plaza Athénée iconic red bears and Corolle’s “Snow Treasure” dolls will delight children and parents alike amid the dazzling decor of sleighs, sleds and a mysterious forest.

  2. What sets you apart from other suites in this city?
We perfectly know our guest's needs and expectations. It allows us to offer an exceptional service. Don't forget the wow effect I offer as the Eiffel Suite. I offer a unique view of Paris through a silver framed window with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

I'm accustomed to hosting celebrities and famous people. Many film productions take place at the Plaza Athénée. For example, my peers and I received the Sex & The City movie team with actress Sarah Jessica Parker.

  3. What would be your advice for a first time guest visiting? I would start the day with a morning of shopping on Avenue Montaigne. Then enjoy lunch in our courtyard garden to admire geraniums that are the pride of the hotel. Afterward, I suggest a visit to the Dior Institute for care and a massage. Do not forget the tea time in the galerie, and taste Angelo Musa’s (our new Executive Head Pastry Chef) pastries.

By early evening, put on a red (emblematic color of the hotel Plaza Athénée) dress and enjoy a Black Mojito at the Bar of the Plaza Athénée. To end the day, experience the Alain Ducasse restaurant at Plaza Athénée; Chef Meder and his team will help you discover new flavors.
