Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? No day is typical in the life of La Villa du Lac. Most mornings begin with a healthy breakfast in the company of my guests. On the menu? Perhaps some eggs, ‘Pain de Fleur’ gluten-free bread, and a Wellbeing Smoothie. If the weather permits breakfast can be enjoyed on my terrace. After bidding adieu to my guests I get dressed for the day. This entails a visit from my dear friends in Housekeeping for a top-to-bottom cleaning. Once every surface is sparkling, my pantry and refrigerator are replenished with delicious snacks and beverages. Any special requests for my incoming guests are finalized at this time. This might include special exercise equipment for personal training sessions, toys and games for children, or hair and makeup appointments chez moi.
  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? The sky is the limit for my guests! Chef Virginie Basselot, the second female ever to receive France’s coveted Meilleur Ouvrier de France title, can prepare a private dinner. Guests can have a Nescens Better Aging massage without even having to walk out the door. We can even arrange a morning fishing boat ride with our fisherman but my dear guests will need to wake up very early, and of course the flabbergasting helicopter ride over the Mont Blanc.
  3. What is your suite motto? Borrowing from French novelist Pierre Loti, after whom one of La Réserve’s restaurants is named: ‘It is said that many children who live in the central provinces, away from the ocean, have a great longing to see it. I who had never been away from the monotonous country surrounding us looked forward eagerly to seeing the mountains.’ With my unparalleled views I feel this quote eloquently encapsulates the spirit of how guests feel when staying here – as if they are seeing the Alps for the first time

The Prince Albert Suite - The Milestone Hotel

London, United Kingdom

British Elegance

The Prince Albert Suite, aptly named after Prince Albert (1819 – 1861), the much-loved husband of Queen Victoria, is one of only two Grand Master Suites of the beautifully appointed, 62 bedroom Milestone Hotel, a Grade II listed English Heritage boutique Country House Hotel in the heart of London.

The suite is a grand statement of elegant style – adorned with fine fabrics, fresh flowers, antique furnishings, and rare artworks. With wonderful views overlooking Kensington Palace and Gardens, flair and regal sophistication embody the Prince Albert Suite. Features include a four-poster bed hewn from old English Oak with sumptuous silk drapes, high ceilings, a private balcony and large sets of floor-to-ceiling windows allow streaming light to enter the corner suite from every angle.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? As one of only two Grand Master Suites at The Milestone Hotel (and to live up to my royal namesake, Prince Albert) it’s important that I look my very best for all occasions. When I’m not entertaining guests, my adoring and extensive team deliver the royal treatment, ensuring I’m spotlessly clean, supremely comfortable and decorated with the most beautiful furnishings at all times.

I’m very much a pampered prince and I’m accustomed to receiving the best care around the clock, and am always dressed to impress! I am spoiled with fresh flowers daily, homemade cookies, chilled mineral water, hand-picked seasonal fruits, a host of newspapers and many more thoughtful touches that my guests adore. Every evening, on turndown, guests will be greeted with a personalized treat from the pastry chef, and if the occasion allows, they will return to a romantic turndown with Champagne, candles and rose petals.

  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? I’m fortunate to be brimming with beautiful features including an extraordinary hand-stitched floral hanging tapestry spanning the length of an entire wall, in front of which hangs a sparkling 12-candle crystal chandelier. Guests will discover tall gold candle stands, a feature fireplace and my extravagant, four poster wooden bed draped in opulent fabric, which takes pride of place.

My spacious marble bathroom accommodates a corner jet bath and the largest free standing walk-in shower in the hotel where guests can douse themselves in Penhalligon’s lotions and potions, one of the most traditional and iconic of English brands. Apart from the many antique chairs and side tables, I’m particularly proud of an original oil painting, hanging in pride of place above my writing desk, of the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, following the death of Queen Victoria.

My warm, inviting ambiance is achieved through soft neutral tones of timeless rich cream, pale gold and understated patterns. I am the epitome of romantic elegance, comfort and luxury, and seamlessly combine traditional elegance with the latest 21st century including complimentary Wi-Fi and SKY television. Guests can choose from soaps from world famous perfumeries and sink into plush bathrobes and slippers.

  3. Who was your all-time favorite guest? So many wonderful guests have walked through my doors, so it’s hard to pick a favorite!  I pride myself on ensuring that each and every one is enveloped in warmth and luxury, and delighted by personal thoughtful touches. There’s nothing that makes me sleep more soundly than knowing their stay at The Milestone Hotel has been everything they’ve imagined and more.

What I can tell you is I’ve been fortunate enough to have enjoyed the company of many a famous singer, poet and performer who have graced the stage of Royal Albert Hall over the years. In more recent years, I’ve become a firm favorite amongst the stars of the silver screen and Hollywood. Here at The Milestone Hotel, discretion is key so I couldn’t possibly divulge any names! The hit TV-drama, Downton Abbey, has certainly raised my profile as many a guest has likened me to one of the rooms at Highclere, and who doesn’t want to pretend to be Lord of the Manor for a week or two.

I’ve become almost famous over the years as the purveyor of fine romantic alliances but children love to count the number of dragons they’re able to spot which are located around my window sconces. It’s a game they play for hours and if they’re happy, I’m happy.

The Dome Penthouse - Hotel Café Royal

London, United Kingdom

Elegance, Energy & Sophistication in One

Combining architectural heritage with contemporary design, Hotel Café Royal is a modern grand hotel in the heart of London’s West End with the elegance of Mayfair to the west and the creativity of Soho to the east. Grand historic areas have been sensitively restored while 160 guestrooms and suites (including seven signature suites) have been created in a contemporary yet refined style. Continuing its celebrated legacy, the hotel offers a selection of restaurants and bars as well as the Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests?  We’re always delighted to hear wonderful feedback from our guests; every guest has a different story, which is always interesting. We are especially honored when guests mention our hotel as “The best hotel in London." One guest who stayed in the Dome Penthouse said he could feel the difference from other hotels from the moment he made the reservation until check out, from greeting the Doorman to the Concierge; he could even mention lots of our colleagues’ names!  Moreover, he mentioned the breakfast may have been the best he has tasted in Europe.
  2. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? The hotel reopened in 2012 after a four year renovation project managed by world-famous David Chipperfield Architects. Hotel Café Royal had expanded into the grand Edwardian offices of the County Fire Office building next door, which is capped by a monumental sculpture of Britannia reclining on the parapet with her Lion and a copper green dome. This iconic dome and sculpture of Britannia are now part of the Dome Penthouse. The Dome Penthouse has been designed into this great rotunda. It has an enormous private roof terrace overlooking Regent Street, the
treetops of St James’, the tower of Big Ben, the London Eye and the Shard in the near distance. Ten double-glazed windows give virtually 360-degree views of the London skyline. Designed as much for entertaining as a cosy night in, there’s party lighting (controlled by an iPad), and a large screen scrolls out of the sideboard to create an in-room cinema with projector. A circular marble dining table and curved pink leather sofa makes it possible to entertain up to six for dinner. The unique bathroom includes a vast bath carved from a single piece of green marble, not to forget, the room comes with a private butler pantry and a separate bedroom for security.

  3. What sets you apart from other suites in this city? I am an impressive circular open space residing under the iconic copper domed rotunda which dominates the skyscape of Lower Regent Street. I have two beautifully furnished spacious terraces offering unrivaled Mary Poppins views of London from the same vantage point as a large statue of Britannia, an iconic symbol of Britain’s influence. Both offer a relaxing outside space, perfect for hosting guests or simply admiring the view of London’s icons.

Should guests ever wish to leave the suite, our house car is waiting to whisk you away to see Canada’s largest metropolis.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? After one guest checks-out, our senior Room Attendant, Lany, will spend 2-3 hours cleaning the suite from head-to-toe. As the room has more marble than any other in the Hotel, the floors are monitored and buffed to maintain their luster. Crystal chandeliers and porcelain vases throughout the suite are carefully attended to–as well as the plush living room area rug. The beds are made with 800 thread count linens which are exclusive to our top suites and among the most luxurious in the city, as are the Acqua di Parma bathroom amenities.
  2. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? As the Suite has the Hotel’s premier view of University Avenue, northwards to Queen’s Park it is of course where we identify ourselves. The style is inspired by our brand’s unique Asian heritage, as well as the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Toronto. A proud Canadian!
  3. What sets you apart from other suites in this city? It’s all in the details–distinct Asian furnishings, Japanese lattice screens, oak wood molding and pewter marble. The suite is filled with unique art pieces and artifacts. Vases with calligraphy by Shanghai artist Wang Xu Yuan lie on the shelves, accompanied by antique jade sculptures donated by a member of our ownership
team–everywhere you look there is something interesting and unique. The Moon Gate leading into the Master Bedroom is one of the most distinct features. A Moon Gate is a traditional Chinese architectural element that can have many different spiritual meanings.

  4. Who was your all-time favorite guest? Wouldn’t you like to know?

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? All my guests are assigned a dedicated 24-hour host that acts as a discrete personal assistant, butler and concierge to manage their individual needs. Guests can expect a tailored serviced ensuring discretion, privacy, yet a personable experience, as well as extra touches like bespoke welcome amenities created by our talented pastry chef, a bottle of chilled Krug Champagne, fresh flowers from in-house designer florist Philip Hammond and a special bath menu by Aromatherapy Associates. For my guests concerned with their wellness when travelling I provide suitable space to be able to practice in-room with a yoga mat and workout videos by the renowned PT Matt Roberts. Alternatively, guests can choose to book a private personal training session in the hotel’s state of the art Fitness Studio or out in Hyde Park. Another highlight (accessed via the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors) is the wrap-around terrace with panoramic views to the London skyline and Hyde Park, which provides the perfect setting to relax with a cocktail or a barbeque in the summer. I am also the perfect location for serious art aficionados. All guest rooms and suites at the hotel feature British art selected by the late art curator Roy Ackerman CBE, who selected 12 living contemporary British artists to populate the walls. Guests staying with me are greeted by a photo of London Thames River entitled “River View”, which was shot by former Rolling Stone Bill Wyman. The living room features an original artwork from the contemporary British artist, Sir Peter Blake whose “Dancing Girls over Rotten Row” hangs above the fireplace. A little bit of history: Rotten Row is the name of the path running through Hyde Park just in front of the hotel, which was originally called Route du Roi, the French for King’s Road, and was eventually corrupted into Rotten Row.

  3. What would be your advice for a first time guest visiting? It is undeniable that Mayfair is the perfect central location from where to enjoy London. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore our neighborhood, or have your Host book a private appointment at the exclusive boutiques on Mount Street and Bond Street. Enjoy the neighboring Royal Hyde Park either by foot, boat or on one of the hotel’s signature Brompton Bikes. During summer, there is no better way to enjoy the terrace than with a barbeque or al fresco dining of your choice, all provided by the culinary expertise of executive chef David McIntyre at CUT at 45 Park Lane, the modern American steak restaurant by Wolfgang Puck. Guests can also invite friends over for a meal served in a splendid oval dining-room, perfect for entertaining all whilst admiring the south facing postcard views of the London Eye, Gherkin, Big Ben, and Houses of Parliament towards the Thames river. Start the evening with cocktails in the terrace and later head to BAR 45 and try some of the exquisite hand-crafted cocktails by head bartender Maurizio Palermo. Our homemade vintage Negroni and sodas served from our Negroni Trolley is a must try! Don’t forget to go around the lobby and public areas and enjoy our rotating program of art exhibitions currently showcasing 45PRM by royal British artist Christian Furr and godfather of rock photography Gered Mankowitz.
  4. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? My executive architects Paul Davis + Partners worked closely with Thierry W. Despont to realize my architectural and interior vision. By the works of Thierry Despont, I can be described as having “Luxurious fabrics, ultra-comfortable custom-made furniture; well-appointed dressing areas, breath taking bathroom, a place where you can relax – your home away from home. Somewhere that doesn’t feel like a hotel." What’s not to love?

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite?  A typical day in my life involves a lot of sand!  Seeing that I am located in the Honolua wing, closest to the beach access, my guests get to enjoy three lanais and gaze at the breath-taking Pacific Ocean any time they want. This usually results in them heading out to enjoy the waves and bringing home lots of sand, which makes me really happy because I know they are out making memories!  I am lucky to be a suite at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua as our service standard of cleanliness is impeccable, so the sand never sticks to my rich dark wood floors for long. I enjoy the delightful company of a large family, and sometimes they decide to stay in and utilize the high end kitchen to prepare their own dinner. It smells so good in this spacious suite when they do that, and aren’t they so grateful when our housekeepers come to pamper them and clean up afterwards?! Sometimes my guests stay for a few days, and sometimes for a few weeks, but every day is dazzling and a chance for me to inspire life’s most meaningful journeys.
  2.  Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? All of majestic Maui is what inspired my style, and Kapalua, especially, is warm and colorful while also being very relaxed and refined. The royal family of Hawaii used to spend their vacations on this very island, so I am perfect at showcasing my beauty in a very calming manor that will allow your senses to be invigorated.  In fact, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua proudly maintains the Honokahua Preservation Site, a recognized “wahi pana” (sacred site) that lies adjacent to the resort and serves as a destination where Native Hawaiians can gather to this day to conduct ceremonies and protocol.
  3. How would you like to be remembered? Often! I want you to remember me as the place you experienced indelible moments that you carry with you until the next time you step through my doors at the unparalleled The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
  4. What is your suite motto? Mai ka la hiki a ka la kau..ka la maikai a Kapalua…From the rising sun to the setting sun…a perfect day in Kapalua.
  5. Who was your all-time favorite guest? You are sure to be my all-time favorite guest. I cannot wait to immerse you in genuine care and comfort!

It also features a kitchen and it can connect to a Park King View room so you can add on another bedroom if you needed to.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? I just opened my doors in June 2016. I am young and have grown up with many people, a wonderful team of professionals who worked hard to raise me.

The architects wanted me to be part of a luxurious resort that resembles a Mallorcan hilltop village but, at the same time, they expected me to stand out. I had to become the brightest, the highest, the largest (150 square meters) and the most beautiful suite in the family. Pressure was on!

Thanks to the builders and the interior designers, I have a limestone skin which gives me a soft ocher tone that contrasts with the burnt lumber color of my wood. Inside, artists decorated my ivory colored walls with large windows, marble details, eye-catching artwork, sculptures and a fireplace – providing it with a homely feeling.

Electricians gave me the power to light up the whole place and merge the new technologies with the comforts of home. I can activate an in-room tablet, a working studio, three large TVs (one integrated with the bathroom’s mirror), high-speed internet and sound systems. I can heat the bathroom floors, the towels, and the whole room when it is cold and cool it when it is hot.

I feel like I have so much to offer but not so many guests have had the chance to meet me yet. I feel a bit lonely and empty. My pastime is to observe. Being on the highest floor gives me the advantage of having the best views. From there I can see the stone-clad houses and cobblestone streets amid the carefully manicured gardens, planted with almond, olive, orange and lemon trees, just to name a few. I admire how the sunlight and the moonlight play over the mountains. By now, I have lived through the four seasons. I felt the bubbly ecstasy of spring, the fields stripped of corn in August, the trees shedding all their leaves during fall and how nature folds back in on itself in winter.

Overall, I am happy with those who have visited me. I have hosted couples, families, CEOs, singers and artists, and business meetings and honeymoons have been celebrated here. Not bad for a newly born suite, right?

  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? When guests book me, the Park Hyatt family pays attention to every detail. Room service brings water bottles, replenishes the minibar with high quality products and premium brands and prepares welcome amenities made by our pastry department. They are available 24 hours for our guests.

The housekeeping team provides all the necessary amenities to make you feel at home. From plush bathrobes and shoes to Bottega Veneta bathroom amenities. They also press garments so that guests can look impeccable.

The Concierge Team is available to design the perfect plan for them. Their first answer to their petitions is never ‘no’. I remember how they arranged a helicopter flight around the island followed by chefs and barmen preparing cocktails and delicious food at the kitchen. We are flexible, we adapt to their needs. We are personal.

  3. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? I belong to a resort protected by Cap Vermell, a mountainous cape on the east coast of Mallorca named after the reddish colors of its cliffs. The caves of Artà are here, just beside the sea. This fascinating labyrinth of underground caverns once provided shelter to hermits and smugglers and has been visited by great authors like Victor Hugo and Jules Verne. I feel that even if I am new, I belong to this story being part of a small village rooted in the local culture. A place that transports you to the past, with no traffic and noise. A small stream runs across the resort, I can see it and hear it every day. Its bed is formed by the reddish rocks carved from Cap Vermell.

My guests can enjoy a deep tissue massage or a manicure or any other treatment they want with a view over the snow-capped Mont-Blanc, the old city, the Jet d’eau and the Lake. I’m really the 7th heaven in Geneva. I’m also an outstanding venue for intimate parties with friends: During Winter next to the fireplace and in Summer on the terrace. The Geneva skyline at nightfall is just stellar.
  2. What would be your advice for a first-time guest visiting? Keep some time for me. Don’t plan a thousand activities outside as I’m sure once in the suite, you would like to spend hours taking in the most of the view, relaxing on the terrace or enjoying the finest Swiss chocolates in the luxury intimacy of the spacious salon.
  3. How would you like to be remembered? I would like to be remembered as the most breathtaking point of view of Geneva from which you can see my best friend, the Jet d’Eau.

Dorchester Collection motto is “Iconic hotels in Iconic cities." I would like to be remembered as a Geneva icon.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? At 75 square meters, I am certainly hard work to maintain. However, we want our guests to experience the ultimate in luxury upon arrival, so we make sure every aspect of me represents the finest in hospitality. First, our housekeeping staff cleans me thoroughly for guests. The beds and baths are restocked with sheets, bathrobes, slippers, HERMES, etc. Next, all of my features are prepped for my next guests; this includes a satellite TV, in-room safe, refrigerated mini-bar, coffee and tea making facilities, exterior private plunge pool, complimentary in-room and public area Wi-Fi, and a daily newspaper delivery upon request. Then the maintenance staff checks for small imperfections and stains on the walls! Since everything is so white we have 3 staff members walking around and painting in cooperation with our housekeeping. Last but not least comes our world-class services and amenities: We make sure that all guests receive a complimentary welcome drink, Nespresso complimentary coffee, a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit upon arrival, a twice-daily housekeeping service, direct external line telephones, and a 24-hour boarding pass print-out service.
  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? Blending spectacular vistas of the charming caldera with over the top accommodation and impeccable service, I will charm even the most eclectic guests. My beauty cannot be understated. Canaves Oia is the pinnacle of luxury and elegance, the home of unrivaled yet discrete service, the trailblazer of the world of hospitality, the place where everyone dreams to visit. It’s also surrounded by invigorating scenery: the reddish cliffs, the mysteries of the sleeping volcano, the eternal blue of the Aegean Sea and the vermillion colors of the astonishing sunsets. Santorini is a place of tranquility and chic lifestyle, a summery destination with unparalleled natural beauty because of its views and vibes.
  3. What sets you apart from other suites in this island? Apart from my style and the whitewashed architecture, I have the best location on the island, being in the heart of Oia village but having the best privacy. I am situated on top of Canaves Oia Suites, in front on a small peninsula on the side of the cliff, which enables us to offer panoramic views and 100% privacy. Being on top of the cliffs also means 0 steps and direct access to our elevator for seamless access to all the hotel's facilities.

6 Bedroom Private Cliff Pool Reserve - Soneva Kiri

Koh Kood, Thailand

Intelligent Luxury

Perched on the cliff overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Siam, the 6 Bedroom Private Cliff Pool Reserve features a waterslide and large swimming pool that wraps around the master bedroom. The villa has multiple outdoor dining and lounging areas, with a dining table that can seat over 8 guests. There is also a gym, multiple spa rooms, a wine cellar, a library and a multi-purpose room. The signature outdoor bathrooms are dazzling. Soneva's villas are inspired by Swedish and Asian design. Co-founder and Creative Director of Soneva, Eva Shivdasani, is from Sweden and this is reflected in the light-colored walls, open areas and minimalist design.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? My typical day when guests have left consists of a lot of maintenance work. I’m a very big villa, six full bedrooms with a large pool, and I’m situated on a cliff in lush greenery. Soneva Hosts will come in and sweep away dried leaves and make me look pretty; they’ll clean my pool, change the sheets, and give me a deep clean in all of the corners. Sometimes, engineers and project hosts will come in and tweak a few things to make me more sustainable, like attaching sensors to my lights.
  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests? It’s hard to choose my favorite indulgence; every guest that comes to stay with me has their personal Mr./Ms. Friday butler, but I also have a waterslide and wine cellar! But my favorite is probably the complimentary chocolate and ice cream room, which has over 60 flavors.
  3. What would be your advice for a first time guest visiting? My advice for first time guests visiting is to embrace our philosophy; no news no shoes. Put away all the electronics and soak in nature, the view and the fresh air. Embrace the slow life, and let everything, your mind, your body and your phone, have a vacation. Also, always remember our intelligent luxury philosophy; that luxury in my villa is not about gold and silver and marble. Intelligent luxury with me means the sustainable materials, the organic food and the rare experiences.

Villa Medici Presidential Suite - Hotel Eden

Rome, Italy

Authentic Romans with a Modern Touch

The spacious Villa Medici Presidential Suite (1,345 square feet) captures Hotel Eden’s opulent Roman style and is the ideal way to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the Eternal City from the balconies. Designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of 4BI & Associates have chosen rich hardwood floors, beautiful Venetian fabrics and original furniture created exclusively for Hotel Eden. The suite has a large master bedroom, elegant living area, dining room for up to eight people, and a separate pantry and study. Pamper yourself in the stately master bathroom, inspired by the opulence of Roman baths, with a sweeping view of Rome. The bathroom is decorated in white and gold hues with exquisite Italian glass mosaics, white marble vanities, a walk-in rain shower, a separate bath with shower combination, and luxurious Italian Bottega Veneta toiletries. The Presidential Suite can be connected to a Junior Suite and Prestige Room to create three bedrooms.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? No day is like the other in a suite, much depends on the company I keep. There might be some very quiet days completely dedicated to relaxation reading a good book lounging on the sofa in the living room, enjoying a warm bath in the luxurious bathtub and an intimate dinner in the dining room/area; productive days spent closing business deals in the study area; energetic days of pillow fights and children's games in every room with milk and cookies before bedtime. In between these moments, I savor the pleasure of some 'me time' and the care and ‘beauty treatments’ of the hotel staff that makes me feel new and fresh every day.
  2. Is there a famous name, a street or monument that you identify with? What inspired your style? My designers, Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of 4BI & Associates, in making my new ‘dress’ took inspiration from Rome, its colors, its unique light, its ambiance.  And so here I am:  bright, sophisticated, elegant in a very Italian way, filled with details that call Rome to mind. Take the strongly patterned black and white marbles of my entrance that you find in any ancient building and church or the marble bathtubs that are inspired by the fountains in Piazza Farnese and in Villa Medici and their big basins.
  3. What would be your advice for the first-time guest visiting? Wake up early (I know it is not an easy task with such a comfortable bed) to enjoy the view of Rome from your windows under the magic light of the rising sun (which make also for some fantastic pictures to post on your social accounts), indulge in the delicious, healthy breakfast our executive chef Fabio Ciervo created with a mind to give you all you need to face a day in the city and then set out to explore the center. Walking down the Spanish Steps, just 5 minutes walking from the hotel, around 8:30 am when no one is around but you is quite an experience, and the Trevi Fountain without the crowds is an unforgettable sight.

The Executives Sea Suites & Pool Suites - Finca Cortesin

Málaga, Spain

Andalusian Gem

What impresses me the most are the views from our Executive Suites or Pool Suites. The lush gardens that surround us with the Mediterranean Sea in the background are remarkable. The serenity, the great spaces, the tranquility, the fragrance of our gardens and the singing of the birds are perceptions that our guests enjoy from the terraces of our suites. Truly unforgettable!
Every one of these individually designed suites comes with breathtaking views of the Andalusian Coast. The total living space from 77 square meters to 100 square meters of bed and living/dining room combines the satisfying feeling of being at home while being spoiled by luxury. All of them come with balconies that will allow you to further enjoy Finca Cortesin’s stunning location facing the Mediterranean Sea.
The decoration of the Hotel’s suites is inspired by the great summer mansions of the Mediterranean. Made with the highest quality of fabrics and furniture, trying to make every room different with their own personality. The mixture of color and furniture in our rooms was created for a select type of customer, a cultured traveler who would feel as though they are experiencing something different each time they return to the hotel.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests? One of the nicest comments left from one former guest was," Excellent hotel with fantastic staff." The guest mentioned that he and his family had stayed in Marbella many times and on their last visit a friend recommended Finca Cortesin. The friend was right; it was an amazing experience from the moment they checked in. The personalized service received by every member of the staff, its fabulous facilities such as the Spa, outdoor pools, the comfortable suite and their excellent gastronomy. They look forward to their next stay already!
  2. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? The hotel’s fresh but grand design is inspired by traditional Andalucian architecture, the famous Hacienda’s, and gives every area a big, bright and luxuriously spacious feel that is so rare in Europe. Outside, design features include white walls, shady arcades and courtyards.

Designed by the architects Roger Torras and Ignacio Sierra, the hotel boasts some of the best design talent in Europe including the landscape architect Gerald Huggan, and revered interior designer Duarte Pinto Coelho who has used beautiful continental antiques in the guest areas, and sisters Ana and Christina Calderón who are responsible for the understated but exceptional interior design of the rooms. Beautiful features include antique terracotta floors and old wooden doors which have been salvaged from European castles and restored.

The vision: Make it so that our guests do not have to worry about anything during their stay. Authenticity!!!
  3. What is your suite motto? Passion and authenticity are my favorite words in the hospitality business.

The Presidential Suite - Le Meurice

Paris, France

A Victorious Visit to Versailles

Located on the Hotel’s first floor, facing the Tuileries Garden, the Presidential Suite is inspired by the formal Louis XVI style, and furnished with one-of-a-kind masterpieces, with parquet floors of aged woods and rugs by Braquenié created with special motifs just for me. It offers a “taste of Versailles”, and hosted the King Alphonse XII, and then Salvador Dalí for over three decades. The fabrics come from the famous factory of Charles Jouffre, in the city of Lyon. Presidents and kings have always appreciated these suites; this is the reason why we call it the “Presidential Suite”.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests? The guests appreciate my spectacular style inspired by Versailles. They are always enthralled when they discover me for the first time! I offer them a complete change of scene, a true 18th century experience! What guests also really appreciate is my breathtaking view on the Tuileries Garden.
  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests?  As I said, new guests are captivated by my style and my view on the Tuileries garden. The localization in the heart of Paris in one of my biggest advantages. I’m ideally located for a range of activities, whether you’re after fine dining and shopping or simply want to explore the city of romance and culture. On top of this, I can connect to another Presidential Suite and Junior Suite to form a private apartment of 3,000 square feet, all overlooking the beautiful Tuileries garden.
  3. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? Salvador Dalí , the surrealist painter. I welcomed him, and his muse Gala for 30 years and he realized here some of his paintings, and organized some happenings from my balcony!  What wonderful memories.

The St. Regis Villa - The St. Regis Mauritius Resort

Blissful Seduction

The St. Regis Villa is the most seductive beach villa in Mauritius and is so much more than an ideal tropical getaway. It is a home away from home. The 1659 square meter Villa features four exquisitely appointed bedrooms, all with their own spacious ocean-facing terrace.  The Villa’s private entrance opens out into a spectacular and elegantly furnished living accommodation, including a dining area, two lounges, office, infinity pool and direct access to 143 meters of beach front.  A dedicated service team, including a Villa Manager, St. Regis Butler and a private chef, are all there to cater to your every whim. Everything is possible at Mauritius’ largest and most private villa address.

The Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day like in the life of a suite? It is bittersweet for me when guests check-out. After a few days of relaxing and enjoying each other’s company – I hate to see them go. However, I know that the team has to get me ready for the next group of friends or family to arrive. It is not an easy task, but the dedicated Villa team knows exactly what to do; refreshing all the rooms, cleaning the pools and kitchen, bringing fresh flowers, et al. They also like to put Jaime Cullum’s CD on when they are cleaning, that is fun! When the next guests arrive – the expression on their face when they walk in is priceless. “Ohs and Ahs”, exploring all the rooms, then the realization of how big the Villa is, hits them – “This is all ours?” Yes – it is!
  2. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? I can’t say there is just one person, place or thing that I identify with. It would have to be a myriad of things! The lava rock structure brings to mind the temples in Bali. The rich, black stone coming together as a foundation. As all the rooms (living and dining rooms included) face the lagoon and have folding glass doors. When fully open, there are no “walls” or barriers between you and the sound of the lapping waves, as if you are anchored at sea, on a Riva Yacht.

Sitting in the dining room with a sumptuous dish on the table – it could easily be mistaken for a Michelin Star restaurant in Europe, but with an infinity pool & sunset in the forefront. A glass of Veuve Clicquot in hand, naturally.

The interior design is less colonial style than the rest of the Resort, and more classic contemporary. If modern day Chanel joined forces with vintage Diane von Furstenburg to outfit a beachfront retreat, you would find our villa. There isn’t a place I identify with – it is only Mauritius!
  3. Who was your all-time favorite guest? I had a lovely family whose matriarch was celebrating a milestone birthday. The husband had discretely made arrangements with the Butler. It started during one of our legendary sunsets with our sabrage ritual and champagne at the outdoor bar. He requested an acoustic trio playing by the pool. An 8-course dinner was on order, each dish meticulously prepared and presented. Then just before the cake came out, the husband gave a heartfelt speech and voila - fireworks lit the sky just in front us! Everyone was enjoying themselves so much that they started dancing the dining room. (The band was enjoying themselves as well!) You could not have scripted this any better. An unforgettable time for all!

The Pompadour Suite - Le Meurice

Paris, France

Classical Contemporary

Launched in July 2016, this suite is a tribute to the iconic Madame de Pompadour, Patron of the arts, symbol of femininity and passion at the 18th century. The Pompadour Suite is the perfect blend of classic and modern and incorporates intuitive automation and state-of-the-art technology to provide guests with maximum comfort. The sumptuous décor, inspired by the 18th century, has been designed by Charles Jouffre, in the style of a royal residence. The design involved several highly regarded artisans, with expertise as distinguished as silk by Prelle, trimmings by Declercq and chandeliers by Lucien Gau. Le Salon, the suite’s opening act, is the epitome of the 18th century: symmetry, solid oak Versailles parquet, Regency-style wood paneling, hidden doors, Louis XV fireplace, cornices, chandeliers and rich trimmings. The invisible technology delivers the ultimate in modern comfort: televisions are concealed behind reproductions of paintings, switches control lighting with maximum precision, USB ports are hidden in the sofa armrests, and complete darkness can be achieved with a remote control.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? Like Madame de Pompadour, I’m very “coquette” and I like being as beautiful as possible! All the staff, and especially the housekeeping, are kind to me and take care of me every day. Between a check-out and a new check-in, ballets of room maids are busy cleaning me up. The beautiful carpet in my living room is carefully brushed, as is my sofa, and the cushions designed by Charles Jouffre are rearranged correctly. The beds are prepared with a lot of attention, and fresh flowers are set up.
  2. What is your biggest indulgence in captivating new guests?  I would say that my first advantage is my location in the heart of Paris. Did you know that I am just a few minutes’ walk from the Place Vendôme and the Louvres museum? Furthermore, I am captivating because I have a hidden treasure: an invisible technology. The designers who created me drew inspiration from a jewelry technique, which consists of hiding a piece’s setting to show only the sparkle of its precious stones, when installing invisible yet omnipresent, state-of-the-art technology. I am unique because I offer a reinterpretation of eras, styles, and expertise to showcase timeless elegance while delivering the ultimate in modern comfort.
  3. What would be your advice for a first-time guest visiting? Ask one of our Guest Relations managers to talk about my history and to show you my little secrets…

Opal & Sapphire Suites - The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman MAIN.jpg

A Long Lasting Island Impression

Located on the 3rd floor of the exclusive North Tower, the Opal and Sapphire suites offer the finest in distinctive accommodations. The lavish residential retreats include a 1,300 square foot terrace featuring sweeping ocean views of the Caribbean Sea and world-renowned Seven Mile Beach, a luxurious Chef’s kitchen, and the services of a personal assistant to cater and attend to every detail.  However the day unfolds in Grand Cayman, let us provide an unforgettable retreat.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What was your favorite feedback or comment received from past guests? It was this, left in a hand-written note to Housekeeping: “Thank you for bringing me back to life.”
  2. How would you like to be remembered? I’d like to be remembered as the place where you finally were able to let your smartphone run out of battery, where you enjoyed the sunshine and tropical breezes on your face, where you were caressed by the warm smiles of my caring staff, and where your heart and senses were all touched by new pleasures. That’s why I am here – to help my guests find joy.
  3. Who was your all-time favorite guest? Well, I can’t divulge names -- but it was a famous basketball player who had come to the resort for his wedding. The guest forgot to pack his dress shoes and discovered it just moments before the ceremony was to begin. I sent out an alert to all of my suite team, and within a couple of minutes, we had tracked down a very tall employee with the same shoe size – and a pair of dress shoes sitting in his closet at home. Our team member dashed to his place, grabbed the shoes and brought them up to the suite for the VIP guest to wear for the wedding, shining the shoes while he was running across the resort grounds.

Moments later, the wedding ceremony proceeded beautifully, and our basketball player was a vision in his “something borrowed” shoes. The guest was already a hero to all of us, and we were honored at the very kind thank you note which he left for us in the suite, bringing tears to all of our eyes. It was a special, happy day for many people, and it made us all very proud to be a suite.

The study, drawing room and dressing room provide additional space to relax, and the house has a picturesque garden with a tranquil stream and spectacular countryside views.

Suite Talk Q&A

  1. What is a typical day in the life of a suite? Every day I say good morning to our resident swans - Pukka and Chukka - that live in the lake in front of me. Before any guests arrive, our expert housekeeping team at Coworth Park runs rigorous inspections from room to room to ensure everything is in perfect shape. My fireplace in the living room may be lit in the cooler months to ensure the rooms are all snug and cozy, while in the summer the terrace will be all prepared for al fresco dining. My favorite past time is watching the exciting high-goal polo tournaments from my windows come May.
  2. What would be your advice for a first-time guest visiting? Enjoy long walks in the Berkshire countryside and wander the paths amongst the wildflower meadow during the spring and summer months. Don’t forget to explore the local area as we are located moments away from the Ascot Royal Mile and Windsor Great Park. Our new bike fleet menu gives you the chance to choose from riding tandem, atop a Penny Farthing or take the children in a Babboe Cargo around our country estate in style while cycling around the grounds. Indulge in delicious British countryside cooking from our executive chef Adam Smith. Guests can taste the finest in British ingredients and flavors from our specially created Best of British menu or appreciate one of our elegant wine dinners at Restaurant Coworth Park in collaboration with our preferred wine partners. For a quintessential British treat, try our delicious afternoon tea featuring amazing creations by our head pastry chef Lucy Jones.
  3. Is there a famous name, a particular street or monument that you most identify with? What inspired your style? My heritage and character has been influenced by the personality of my distinguished owners over time. Dating from 1776, my estate has passed through the hands of a long list of Lords and Ladies including the Earl of Derby who owned the estate for the early half of the 19th century. My proximity to Windsor Great Park and the Royal Estate influences my style and adds to my eccentricity.
